Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our finance team and gain hands-on experience in cannabis industry accounting. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work within a highly regulated environment, supporting day-to-day accounting tasks while learning the specialized compliance and financial requirements of cannabis businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with daily bookkeeping tasks, including data entry and transaction coding
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Help maintain accurate financial records in accordance with cannabis regulatory requirements (e.g., METRC, 280E compliance)
Organize and digitize invoices, receipts, and financial documents
Assist with preparation of financial reports and internal audits
Participate in month-end close processes
Conduct research on industry-specific tax and compliance topics
Collaborate with team members on special projects as needed
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Interest in learning about cannabis regulations and industry-specific financial practices
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in bookkeeping, retail, or inventory-based accounting
Familiarity with cannabis compliance tools and terminology (e.g., METRC, 280E)
Currently, we are opening one intern position at a time. This position will be a limited duration of 13 weeks, and we will reopen our intern pool for selection near the end of each cycle.
